Indoor Gardening

Hello loves!

I’ve been obsessing over indoor gardening lately and I thought I would give it a shot.

I actually started with an avocado plant but I’ll post about that in the near future. In the container above I planted some mix lettuce seeds.

I took a plastic container and poked holes in the bottom and set it on top of its top.

Then I filled it with potting soil and planted my seeds. The seeds have been in there for about 3-4 days and I already have some sprouts!

Hopefully I’ll have a fresh organic salad in 30-50 days. I’ll update as it grows.

Disappearing Pictures

How I Pick Colors

Picking which colors to use for a project is my favorite part about creating. We all know that almost any color goes with a neutral. But what about putting color with color?

You can use a color wheel to help you, but I don’t like to follow rules when it comes to creating. It feels forced.

What I like to do is place the colors I want to use together to see how they look next to each other. Now I have used colors I didn’t not like together in a project. But! I did not put them side by side. They did not meet and the finished item was beautiful.

When I have colors in mind that I want to use together and they’re not looking so good I look for a different shade and or finish of one or all the colors.

The finish and shade of your materials plays a big role in creating something pleasing to the eye. When it comes to finishes I like to use 2-3 different ones in one project.

What I mean by finish is the texture/look of your materials.

I think shade is important too. I think the shades you use depends on the style of the item your making. Lets take this springs top tread, NEON! Now I know neon is not everyone’s cup of tea… but it’s mine! Neon colors can be hard to put together. The best way to us more than one neon color is to limit it to 2. Another good way and this goes for other colors too, is to break up the colors up with a neutral. Don’t let the colors meet, just stick a neutral between.

I use a neutral to break up color when I feel like my color combination is looking a little clownish or kiddish. That wouldn’t bother me if I was going for one of those looks.

The best neutral colors to keep on hand in my opinion is black, white, brown, silver, and gold.

I know you may be saying silver and gold are not neutral. To me they are. I haven’t really come across a project that wouldn’t look good with either or.

When all else fails. Black and white is your friend .

My Process

Hello lovelies!

I wanted to come in and share a little about how I go about creating. Not sure if anyone’s interested in this but I thought it would be fun and of course its a chance for me to share a bit more about myself.

When I’m ready to sit down to create there is one of three ways I start. One by looking at my unfinished items and trying to talk myself into finishing them. That almost never happens.

After that I try to recall an idea I had for a new item or pattern since I rarely write anything down. This usually happens in the middle of an item I’m already creating and yes I will most likely stop what I’m doing to try out this new idea. Then the fun part comes. Its time to pick a color combo! I will go more into picking colors in another post.

Usually when I’m creating something new there’s a lots of wasted thread, maybe a broken needle or two, and a little frustration. But more often than not I’m satisfied with the end product.

When I can control my urge to create something new I pick a design I feel need more color or pattern options. I pick my colors which is my favorite part of the bead weaving process. Well second to finishing an item .

After I pick my colors then I set up my work space. I pull out a little of each color on my work space to make sure I like the colors together. When I’m happy with my color combo I choose the thread I want to use, size and color. After that I gather my other supplies I need and might need. I do this because I don’t like to stop once I’ve started creating. This is a no no for me because I have a hard time finishing one item at a time.

That’s my process in a nut shell. If you all have anymore questions I’m always willing to answer them.

Bearded Diamond Weaved Earrings

Hello loves!

Lately I’ve been brainstorming on ways to…. lets say be more present on everything I got going on with the shop, the blog, Facebook, and so on.

I haven’t figured it all out yet but I’m making progress. By the way I haven’t forgotten about the newsletter. I’ve been working on it and it should be ready in a week or so.

Back on topic. Usually when I make a new item there’s almost never a second to follow. That has all changed… hopefully ;D.

The new earring design pictured above has two sisters in different colors and patterns. These all will go up tonight.

Diamond Weaved Earrings A Day 4? 5, 6,&7

I’m a little late, I’m sure you want to know if I completed my task? Almost! On day 4 I started 3 different earrings and hated them all. But not only that stopped day 4 earring from being made. I got side tracked with new ideas and I had to try them out of course.

But I got back into my grove on day 5 and finished the rest of the days with no problems.

I wanted to go back to basics with this pair. The original “DWE” was this size. I noticed that I only have one of this size up in my shop. How that happened I don’t know.
